Local Information

Cawthorne is a pretty village in rural South Yorkshire, approximately 3 miles west of Barnsley.

It is an old parish, dating back to at least the late 11th century, with some buildings from the 15th century still in use today.

There are many lovely walks around the parish along the numerous footpaths. Please remember the country code, plan ahead and follow any signs, leave gates and property as you find them, protect plants and animals and take your litter home, keep dogs under control ( and on a lead at all times when near farm animals). PLEASE KEEP TO DESIGNATED FOOTPATHS AND BRIDLEWAYS AND DO NOT CROSS PRIVATE FARM LAND.
