Co-option on to the Parish Council

The Council thanks all those who applied for co-option onto the Council. Interviews were held on the 26th August 2010, and a recommendation for co-option will be made to the full Council at its meeting to be held on the 30th September 2010. Electors are reminded that there will be elections for all nine Council seats in May 2011, when all those on the electoral roll are eligible to stand for election to the Parish Council.

Parish Council Grants

There are still some limited funds available for small grants to bona fide organisations. Please apply in writing to the Parish Clerk.

Play Facilities in the Orchard

This project is still on hold as no formal confirmation has been received from central government regarding the withdrawal of funding.

Eric Chappell Ellis, Honorary Freeman of the Parish of Cawthorne

Eric Ellis was formally presented with his written address on Saturday 28th August 2010 at an extremely well attended function in the Village Hall. The address was presented by Councillor Gaynor de Barr, Mayor of Kirkbymoorside Town Council and Chairman of the Yorkshire Local Councils Association. Congratulations and best wishes were received from David Moody, the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire. Penistone Fm and the press were in attendance.

Parish Council Meetings and Public Question Session

The following procedure to enable parishioners to address the Council is still in force.

Councillors and the Clerk attend at 7.30 pm; members of the public who are in attendance are allowed to ask questions of the Council, on any matter, from 7.30 pm to 7.40 pm; at 7.40 pm the formal meeting of the Council commences. Members of the public are not permitted to participate in the formal meeting unless they have complied with the requirements previously advertised. This procedure also applies to Council Committee Meetings.

Next Meeting of the Parish Council

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday 30th SEPTEMBER 2010, at 7.40 pm, in the Moxon Room, Village Hall. All parishioners are welcome, and are encouraged to attend at 7.30 pm. Please note change of date.
