                        VILLAGE HALL – REFURBISHMENT UPDATE

‘The larger of the two kitchens in the Village Hall has been ripped out, redesigned and refurbished’, writes Chris Rishworth, our Hon Secretary of the Village Hall Committee, ‘Indeed there is still work to be done when funds are available. This work was deemed essential not only to bring the kitchen up to a good standard but to offer an excellent and enjoyable venue for members of the public wishing to use the Hall for weddings, birthday parties and other celebratory occasions; thereby providing much needed funds towards the Hall’s day-to-day upkeep.’

‘The Parish Council has been instrumental in providing vital grants towards the enhancement of this area of the Village Hall’, continues Chris. ‘The last grant of £1000 was given to help with the cost of filling in a window space and fitting a new door to provide access to a proposed extension.’

‘ CAWTHORNE BRASS BAND has recently been forced to rehearse outside the village where secure storage for their instruments could be provided; however the Band is anxious to rehearse in the village and the Village Hall Management Committee is desirous to meet their needs, hence the proposed extension already referred to, where the Band can store instruments in a secure fashion. Much fundraising work still needs to be done, but as far as Cawthorne Band is concerned, the Village Hall Management Committee is anxious to expedite their ability to rehearse in their own Village Hall.’

‘The grant awarded to us by the Parish Council will, in part, get us on our way towards helping this musical group, a growing part of our rural community’.
