News: Quality Status Parish - first in South Yorkshire

The Council is delighted to have been the first Town or Parish Council in South Yorkshire to be awarded Quality Parish Status. Mr. David Murkett, President of the Yorkshire Local Council's Associations, and Vice Chairman of the National Association of Local Councils presented the Parish Council with its certificate at a small ceremony held in the Village Hall last December.

The Chairman, Councillor Lees, and the Clerk, Mr. Johnston, received the certificate on behalf of the Council. The award is from central government, and is only granted after a Council satisfies an external panel that it has met some fifty odd stringent criteria in nine areas of council work. The award will enable the Council to apply for dedicated QPS Council funds from central government, and to work in greater partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. The Council is very pleased to be recognised for its performance and commitment to its community
