Cull of rabbits in the cemetery
Rabbits which live in the cemetery are causing considerable damage to adjoining allotments and gardens. The Council has therefore authorised a cull of the rabbits. Residents are advised not to walk in the cemetery at daybreak and shortly thereafter during the next few weeks, and to not allow their pets to roam in the cemetery during this period.
Overhanging foliage
There are many overhanging trees and bushes throughout the village which are causing pedestrians to leave the pavements and walk on the highway. The Council respectfully requests that landowners trim back such trees and bushes.
Traffic Control Order
A Traffic Control Order will, in the near future, be placed on the road markings outside the village school; motorists unlawfully parking or waiting within the yellow zig zag lines will be liable to enforcement action once the Order is in force.
Annual Report 2008-2009
‘The Annual Report 2008 – 2009’ will shortly be published. All householders should receive a copy by the end of June. If any householder does not receive a copy by then, please contact any Councillor or the Clerk to the Council.
Avenue of trees at Church Walk
Some of the trees at Church Walk require pruning of dead wood, and treatment to remove a malignant fungus. The Council will be submitting an application for necessary consent in due course. Parishioners can be reassured that the avenue of trees will not be felled.
Parish Council Grants
There are still some funds available for small grants to bona fide organisations. Please apply in writing to the Parish Clerk.
Parish Council Meetings and Public Question Session
The following procedure to enable parishioners to address the Council is still in force.
Councillors and the Clerk attend at 7.30 pm; members of the public who are in attendance are allowed to ask questions of the Council, on any matter, from 7.30 pm to 7.40 pm; at 7.40 pm the formal meeting of the Council commences. Members of the public are not permitted to participate in the formal meeting unless they have complied with the requirements previously advertised. This procedure also applies to Council Committee Meetings, although timings will normally be half an hour earlier.
Next Meeting of the Parish Council
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday 2nd JULY 2009, at 7.40 pm, in the Moxon Room, Village Hall. All parishioners are welcome, and are encouraged to attend at 7.30 pm.
F. Johnston, Clerk to the Council. Telephone: 01226 765569.
