Parish Notes June 2008
The Council’s Annual Report has now been published and is being distributed by the Parish Councillors. If you have not received your copy by the 30th June 2008, and wish to receive it, please contact either the Parish Clerk, details below, or any of the Parish Councillors.
Parishioners are reminded that the Parish Council Notice Board is for displaying Parish Council notices, and for displaying details of community events and news. It is not for displaying commercial business advertising. Any such notices will be removed from the Board.
Overhanging trees and vegetation are causing problems for pedestrians throughout the parish, but in particular in parts of Taylor Hill. Residents are requested to trim back such vegetation and trees.
This year’s Summer Fete will be held on the village green on Saturday, 28th June, between 1 o’clock and 4.30 pm. All are cordially invited to attend and participate in the fun of the day.
The Council has obtained a number of plug plants which needed to be planted before the next round of judging for the Yorkshire in Bloom competition. Anybody who would like to become involved in the competition by helping plant these is asked to contact Cllr Diana Asquith in the first instance, or any other Councillor.
There are still some funds available for small grants to bona fide organisations. Please note that organisations which have already received a grant during this financial year are unlikely to be successful with a second application. Please apply in writing to the Parish Clerk.
The following procedure to enable parishioners to address the Council came into effect from the July 2007 meeting of the Council. Councillors and the Clerk attend at 7.30 pm as per usual practice; members of the public who are in attendance are allowed to ask questions of the Council, on any matter, from 7.30 pm to 7.40 pm; at 7.40 pm the formal meeting of the Council commences. Members of the public are not permitted to participate in the formal meeting unless they have complied with the requirements previously advertised. This procedure also applies to Council Committee Meetings, although timings will normally be half an hour earlier.
