Cawthorne Parish Council

Parish Notes December 2008

‘THE PARISH COUNCIL TAKES THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WISH ALL PARISHIONERS AND THEIR FAMILIES A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2009’

Parish Council Grants

Applicants for grants for the financial year 2009-2010 are advised that applications should now be submitted to the Clerk by the 9th December 2008.

Stone Wall Top Stones

Inconsiderate hikers are removing stone wall topping stones to use as stepping stones on muddy footpaths, particularly at Gipsy Lane/Small Lane.

Motor vehicles on bridleways

It is an offence for persons to drive motor vehicles, including motor bikes, on bridleways, therefore the persons who are consistently doing this on bridleways within Cawthorne are requested to stop, otherwise the Parish Council will have to obtain police involvement.

Play area within Cawthorne

The Parish Council has established a working group to examine the feasibility of providing a play area for children somewhere in the village. Any constructive suggestions or ideas from parishioners are welcome.

BMBC’s planning application process

The Chief Executive of BMBC has confirmed in a detailed letter that the BMBC Planning Department does take into account observations and objections from the Parish Council, and from parishioners, when considering planning applications, and that the Cawthorne Village Design Statement is also taken into account. The Chief Executive gave two detailed examples of how the process works.

Planning Application for a property at 35A Tivydale
