Theft of red wheelie bin from the Village Hall car park

The above rubbish bin has been stolen from the Village Hall car park. Apart from being a criminal offence the theft of the bin means that the Village Hall committee has to pay for a replacement, which is unnecessary expenditure from a village organisation which has limited funds. Similarly, posters advertising events in the Village Hall are being removed from public display prior to the events being held; this again causes inconvenience and financial loss to the Village Hall committee.

Parish Council grants during the year 2012 – 2013

A reminder that the Council’s Budget Committee will be considering applications for grants for the year 2012 – 2013 at it’s meeting in early December this year. Bona Fide parish organisations are invited to apply for grants by sending written application letters to the Clerk to the Council, to be received no later than Friday, 9th December 2011. Grants are not available to individuals.

Golden Jubilee Committee

The Council Golden Jubilee Year Committee welcomes suggestions for events to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Please forward any suggestions to either the Clerk to the Council or to any Councillor, as soon as possible.

Oil Buying Cooperatives

Not on mains gas? Struggling to pay for heating oil which has rocketed in price over the past two years? Interested in ways of reducing costs? Then why not consider setting up an oil buying co-operative? The idea is simple. A group of people in the same area join together and order their heating oil collectively. All members pay the same price regardless of the order size. Such a scheme enables a group of people to order heating oil in bulk for individual homes on a single date. Suppliers save money by reducing journeys which enables them to offer a lower price to customers. These co-operative are already operating in some areas and indicative savings are in the region of 10-12% per order. If you would like to know more please request an information pack from Cllr. Robert Barnard, BMBC. Telephone: (07811) 430948. Email: Cllrrobertbarnard@barnsley.gov.uk
