Play facilities on the Orchard
a. Residents near the Orchard have been erroneously informed by another resident that the facilities close at 3.30 pm. This is not correct. They are open during the hours of daylight, but users are requested to be mindful of nearby residents and not to cause unnecessary noise or disruption late in the evening.
b. Parish Councillors inspecting the ground on which the play facilities are sited are regularly finding small pieces of broken glass under one of the bushes. The glass is removed but remarkably more broken glass is found under the same bushes on the next or following days. The people who are leaving broken glass in this area are requested not to do so – if glass is broken on the site please remove it.
Overhanging hedges and trees
There are many hedges and trees overhanging pavements throughout the village. Residents are requested to trim back such hedges and trees so that pedestrians are able to walk along pavements without having to leave the pavement and walk on the highway.
Crime Prevention
Householders are advised to take steps to secure their properties, including out houses and sheds, when they retire at night. Vehicle keys and other small items of value which are easily removed should not be left in sight in easily accessible locations within properties.
Parish Council Grants
The Council has a limited amount available to award as grants to bona fide parish organisations. Sums this year are less than last year however organisations are encouraged to apply. Please send any applications to the Clerk to the Council, details below.
Parish Council Meetings and Public Question Session
The following procedure to enable parishioners to address the Council is still in force:
Councillors and the Clerk attend at 7.30 pm; members of the public who are in attendance are allowed to ask questions of the Council, on any matter, from 7.30 pm to 7.40 pm; at 7.40 pm the formal meeting of the Council commences. Members of the public are not permitted to participate in the formal meeting unless they have complied with the requirements previously advertised. This procedure also applies to Council Committee Meetings.
