Co-option on to the Parish Council

Cawthorne Parish Council is interested in hearing from anyone aged 18 years and over who either lives in, or works in, Cawthorne for co-option onto the Council. No formal qualifications are necessary, merely an interest and enthusiasm in putting something into your community. If you are interested in this worthwhile position, please contact the Clerk to the Council, who will supply you with further details on how to apply. The closing date is 4.30 pm on Friday 13th August 2010, with interviews at 7.00 pm on Thursday 26th August 2010.Appointments are unpaid, require a time commitment, and all Councillors are subject to the Statutory Code of Conduct for Councillors.

Cold Calling

There has been a recent spate of ‘Cold Calling’ in the village, which has perturbed a number of residents. Parishioners are advised to examine any identification documents which cold callers show them and if in doubt as to authenticity to contact the Police. Parishioners are advised not to allow cold callers into their homes.

Annual Report 2009-2010

‘The Annual Report 2009 – 2010’ has now been published and distributed. If any householder has not yet received a copy, please contact any Councillor or the Clerk to the Council.

Parish Council Grants

There are still some funds available for small grants to bona fide organisations. Please apply in writing to the Parish Clerk.

Parish Council Meetings and Public Question Session

The following procedure to enable parishioners to address the Council is still in force.

Councillors and the Clerk attend at 7.30 pm; members of the public who are in attendance are allowed to ask questions of the Council, on any matter, from 7.30 pm to 7.40 pm; at 7.40 pm the formal meeting of the Council commences. Members of the public are not permitted to participate in the formal meeting unless they have complied with the requirements previously advertised. This procedure also applies to Council Committee Meetings.

Next Meeting of the Parish Council

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday 1st JULY 2010, at 7.40 pm, in the Moxon Room, Village Hall. All parishioners are welcome, and are encouraged to attend at 7.30 pm.
