Diamond Jubilee Working Party

The Council Diamond Jubilee Year Committee will be considering the following proposals at it’s next meeting in mid January 2012: a) Gift of Jubilee Bookmarks to children who live in, and children who do not live in but attend Cawthorne School; b) a Jubilee Beacon; c) a Bonfire; d) a ‘human sundial’; e) the planting of a Jubilee Tree. All constructive comments on these proposals are most welcome. Please forward any to either the Clerk to the Council or to any Councillor, by the 13th January 2012.

Fly Posting

There is an increasing problem with fly posting within the village. Readers are reminding that to fly post is an offence and should therefore not happen. Readers are also asked to remove any fly posters, advertising banners, etc. that organisations they may belong to have put up.

Honorary Freeman of Cawthorne

Contrary to the recent article in the Barnsley Chronicle, the Council is not calling for nominations for Honorary Freeman this year. Please do not send in any nominations.

Council Web Site

The Council is examining the feasibility of updating and expanding the Council web site to make it more of a community information site. Any movement on this project will be advertised in due course.

Parish Council Grants - current financial year

There are still some limited funds available for small grants to bona fide organisations which have not already received a grant in this financial year. Please apply in writing to the Parish Clerk.

Next Meeting of the Parish Council

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday 5th JANUARY 2012, at 7.40 pm, in the Moxon Room, Village Hall. All parishioners are welcome, and are encouraged to attend at 7.30 pm.
